Black Mogul has recently been purchased privately for £11,000 out of William Muir's yard at Lambourn. He has run some nice races on the flat, being placed three times. He gets 1 mile 4 furlongs and acts on all-weather surfaces and turf, on good to soft, good, and good to firm ground. He is now at Sue Smith's stables, where he will be schooled over hurdles and will be aimed at some of the top novice hurdle staying races. A very nice prospect for 2008.

 

GOLDEN RUN

Age: 5 years old, bay filly

Breeding: Sire - Commanche Run / Dam - Goldengirlmichelle

Placed: Once over jumps

Prize Money Jumps: £699

Golden Run is the first offspring from the breeding syndicate's own broodmare, Goldengirlmichelle, who won 3 races over hurdles and was placed 9 times. She is growing fast and if she has inherited her mother's guts and toughness, should be a star in the making. Her dam won over distances from 2 miles to 3 miles 3 1/2 furlongs. Her sire, Commanche Run, won the 1984 St Leger, ridden by Lester Piggott, so hopefully she will possess a turn of foot as well as stamina. She is now running well in bumper races and will switch to hurdles in 2008. She is already showing her ability and is expected to improve even more as she gets older and stronger.
